Our
Services and Health Benefits
Helping
Arthritic Hands Center has designed a unique music therapy
for people suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis of the
hands. Our therapeutic program is designed specifically
for patients with early symptoms or an early stage of
the affliction. Our drum therapy technique will help
the patient to alleviate pain and discomfort and achieve
the desired levels of physical and mental relaxation.
The HAH Center's exclusive drum therapy can be held
in a private one on one session or
an inspiring group setting.
HAH Drum Therapy and Relaxation
The HAH
Center's drum therapy is composed, taught and exclusively
pioneered by John Sichani (click
here to learn more about him). Through your custom
therapy sessions you will be taught how to read simple
and more complex musical scripts and be shown how to
properly exercise and promote the mobility of your fingers
and wrist through playing our unique hand drum called
Tumbak (click here to learn more about Tumbak). The
dynamic movements combined with soothing tone and melody
of the drum will help the patient achieve higher levels
of relaxation and possibly slow down the onset of the
disease.
The
playing technique of our drum is physically reminiscent
of the technique used by the piano players. The technique
utilizes and promotes the complete range of hand, wrist
and finger movements to increase the strength and general
stamina of the muscles and the joints. While improving
the physical condition of the hand, you will delight
your mind through learning how to play a musical instrument.
Expedite the healing process through the soothing sounds
of the hand drum; the spirituality of the music will
increase the mental awareness and relief stress.
HAH
Drum Therapy and Music
Another
important advantage of the HAH Center's therapy is the
learning process. Through the therapy for Rheumatoid
Arthritis of the hand the patient is introduced to the
Tumbak hand drum. The patient is then taught how to
read musical script and play music on the instrument.
This new and original knowledge can be applied to various
other percussion instruments. In essence, the HAH therapy
helps alleviate the pain associated with Rheumatoid
Arthritis through music and exercise of the hand and
fingers. The Tumbak drum itself, is a rather small and
lightweight instrument, making it extremely easy to
hold. It is portable and its soothing beats can be enjoyed
everywhere, from your home to the office and anywhere
in between.
While
great for your health, the HAH Center’s drum therapy
is also a wholesome past-time activity. It is a healthy
hobby that can relieve the daily stress and discomfort.
The HAH music scripts have been designed to imitate
the speech therapy. At first the patient is taught the
basic alphabet, the general sounds and common movement
techniques. Next the patient learns how to recognize
letters and combine them into elemental sentences.
Afterwards,
the patients are taught how to play various rhythms
upon the surface of the drum by applying two hands at
different locations of the surface. Eventually the patients
can produce a rhythmic sentence on their own. One of
the final lessons demonstrates the reciprocating melody
of the drum by combining two unique pieces of rhythmic
sound, a technique that involves full movement of the
fingers and hand. This soothing concoction of spiritual
sound and healthy hand coordination is pioneered and
exclusively designed by John Sichani and is unique only
to the HAH Center.
